Metal / rockband The Gathering has found a new frontwoman in Norwegian singer Silje Wergeland. Silje has been the singer of fellow Norwegian band Octavia Sperati for 8 years including several other projects. The singer will be previewed on new album The West Pole, which is due for release in the first week of May.
The album will also include two guest singers: Dutch vocalist Anne van den Hoogen and Mexican Marcela Bovio (from Stream of Passion), plus more guest musicians to follow. “It’s a very vital, atmospheric and extravert rock orientated album, with all the quality and power The Gathering is so famous for, also with many new elements. The sound is guitar driven, alive and urgent; a strong and beautifully coloured album with haunting female vocals”, is the description offered by the bands drummer Hans Rutten. The West Pole has been produced by guitarist René Rutten, and mixed & mastered by Zlaya Hadzich and René Rutten. Zlaya will return to the desk after producing an earlier album for the band, the first time since he worked on 2003’s Souvenirs.
