News: Motown signs Dutch singer Waylon

Waylon

For the first time in the 50-year history of Motown, a solo album by a Dutch artist will be released on this renowned label. The honor goes to Waylon, who came second in the Dutch television talent show ‘Holland’s Got Talent’. His debut album, entitled Wicked Ways, will be released on August 28 and the single Wicked Way released on August 7.

Wicked Ways was produced by Martin Terefe and Sacha Skarbek (James Morrison, Jason Mraz), who were enthusiastic immediately after listening to the demo. Together with these producers and session musicians, Waylon wrote many songs, then worked for four months on his debut album in London.

“Waylon has a very exceptional voice and he is an excellent performer. We are very proud to welcome Waylon as the first Dutch solo artist ever on Motown” says Sylvia Rhone, President and CEO of Universal Motown Group.

With the release of Wicked Ways Waylon joins Motown mega stars like Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder and of course, his great hero, Michael Jackson.
