Rap group De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig (DJvT = The Youth of Today), singer Tom Barman of dEUS and producer C.J. bolland are all working on a track for the new Magnus album. After a one-off collaboration on the stage of Paradiso in Amsterdam, Barman invited the three from Amsterdam to his studio in Antwerp. After a night on the town the four recorded some tracks. "Yes, when recording we still had a hangover", Barman confirms.
Magnus is a sideproject of Barman who released his monikers debut album in 2004. "With dEUS there's always that past that you carry with you. With Magnus, we can go in every direction - no one would be surprised by a reggae tune." Also Tim Vanhamel from Belgium outfit Millionaire and a befriended beat-boxer will join on the Magnus album. "I try to give talent some room, but it musn't be to big either. It's about sound. The character of the voice has to fit in" Barman states.
Barman is also deliberating about joining the recording of a duet with Dutch jazzpop ensemble Room Eleven on their new album, making a busy year for Barman ahead.
