Sellaband, the online music portal where fans can invest in their favorite bands, has opened a new branch of its service in the United States of America. To further build upon their European success, Sellaband will cooperate with Bring the Noise (BTN)/Eastlink (the company of hip-hop legend Chuck D of Public Enemy-fame).
“Last June we successfully opened our first office outside Amsterdam in England. This is a logical next step”, Sellaband CEO Johan Vosmeijer explains. “America is the biggest country in the world of music. For a company like Sellaband, it’s essential to break new grounds there too”.
Because of the totally new approach in the music industry, Sellaband is growing in contrary to other businesses and companies in their field. “We’ve created a totally independent position within the music industry without the intervention of a record label. And both the artists and their fans profit by this. And a growing number of people in the USA also want to join in”, according to Vosmeijer.

“It's quite simple: we made a car called De Staat, and EuroSonic Noorderslag was our ticket to the freeway.[...] After our showcases at EuroSonic Noorderslag 2009 we started playing clubs, and before we could hear one bird whistle, we were set for the summer. Festivals like Pinkpop, Lowlands, Dour, The Great Escape and Sziget are now gigs we can proudly brag about.”De Staat
