Dutch jazz/ dance music crossover band New Cool Collective will release their new album this month on Amsterdam’s Dox Records. Sugar Protocol is the band’s 8th album, and once again mixes jazz sounds with all kinds of other influences, from world music to techno.
New Cool Collective has always been known for their musical melting pot, but on Sugar Protocol they take it one step further. They mix the ultimate Cuban rhythms with traditional African tribal sounds into a completely new feel. This is the result of their collaboration with famous Cuban rumberos Los Papines and Mapacha Africa from Kenya. This album is a musical trip through fiery African drums and laidback Cuban rumbas, blended with the trademark tight groove of New Cool Collective. ‘A musical bridge between Cuba, Africa & Europe’ is what the band calls it.
