News: Tineke Postma takes her Dutch saxophone around the world

Tineke Postma

Dutch saxaphonist Tineke Postma has just finished recording her fourth studio album at Systems Two Recording Studio in New York. For the session in the famous Brooklyn studio, she invited the most respected jazz-musicians available, one being the great bassist Scott Colley, who was also joined by close friends Terri Lyne Carrington (drums) and Geri Allen (piano).

Tineke Postma began her international carreer at the prestigious Manhattan School Of Music with not one, but two grants to help her develop as a musician. Whilst there, she was taught by legends like Dave Liebmann and Dick Oatts. She has also toured with her own quartet and quintet around the world and performed in various projects, including ‘Sister In Jazz’ and ‘Billie & Me’. She has also been as far afield as Japan with the Dutch Metropole Orchestra, and in 2006 she was rewarded for her skills and won the International Revelation Award during the annual music business conference in Cannes. Tineke is a worthy successor to the Dutch jazz crown, carrying on from the work of Candy Dulfer, who played globally with a host of legends, such as Prince, Maceo Parker and Dave Sanborn.
