News: Kim Janssen releases debut album
Earlier this year, Kim Janssen toured the United States and at the last edition of EuroSonic Noorderslag, where he was one of the events great surprises. This week Volkoreni - in cooperation with Munich Records- will release Kim’s debut album ‘The Truth Is, I’m Always Responsible’.
The great talent of the fresh 20-year old singer-songwriter couldn’t go unnoticed for too much longer. After emerging last year as the newest member of the Volkoren family, the younger Kim has since travelled half the world, supporting The Black Atlantic on tour in Europe, and last November even performed his first shows in the United States.
Finally, Kim’s debut album, ‘The Truth Is, I’m Always Responsible…’ is ready for release. Kim Janssen has lived the largest part of his life with his parents in Asia and has recently returned to The Netherlands. For many years, Kim wrote songs about the people and places he had missed. He put the songs on tape and hid it under his bed. After high school, his demo ended up miraculously in the hands of award winning producer Robby Baier, who invited Kim to come to America to record his debut album in Baier’s studio. Together with several session musicians (including Marla Hansen from the band Sufjan Stevens and My Brightest Diamond) Kim returned with a brilliant singer songwriter album. Too good to be true?
