For the second time in a row, Armin van Buuren has been voted the world’s number 1 DJ by the leading UK magazine DJ Mag.
The definitive list was announced October 29, although the list already circulated on several internet forums. Van Buuren has been in the list, which relies on world wide voting since 2001, entering at no. 27. Since then, he steadily climbed to positions 5 and 3 to leap to number 2 in 2006. In 2007 he finally secured the top position. In a reaction, Van Buuren claims to be surprised at his re-election for what he calls ‘the Oscars of the DJ world’, because he was less active DJ-ing in 2008 than the year before. The rest of the list is another good one for Dutch DJs this year, with Tiësto securing the number 2 place and Ferry Corsten at number 6 making it 3 Dutch DJs in the top 10.
Other Dutch DJs in the list are: Sander van Doorn (13) Fedde Le Grand (29), Marco V (44), Laidback Luke (46), Menno de Jong (48) en Sander Kleinenberg (59).
