News: M.I.A samples Dutch 80’s electro pop track

British pop star M.I.A has used a track from Dutch 80’s artists Spectral Display on her new album. The original track, It Takes a Muscle to Fall in Love, has been shortened to just It Takes a Muscle.

Original artist and producer Michel Mulder was surprised when he heard the news from a Dutch music journalist: he had not been contacted before but is not worried about the rights, since both the M.I.A record and his own 1982 original were released on a major label and he is mentioned in the track’s credits.
Mulder is still active these days as a producer of upcoming talent.
