Composer Richard Rijnvos has been appointed head of the music composition department at the University of Durham in Great Britain. The music department of the University of Durham is one of the major music centers in Britain and has an international staff of musicologists, composers and musicians, many with a leading role in the music world.
Durham alumni include Sir Edward Bairstow, Michael Clarke, George Wilberforce Kakoma (the composer of the national anthem from Uganda), James McMillan and Tim Exile.
Rijnvos begins October 1.
