Black Gold 360 - LM6iX

Beluga Recordings are proud to announce the release of LM6iX the third album from Utrecht's Black Gold 360. Genre: Jazz / Electronica.

Black Gold 360 AKA producer Simon Sixsmith comes from Manchester (UK) but has lived in Utrecht (NL) for 15 years and is label boss of Utrecht's Beluga Recordings.

Sixsmith released his debut solo album Black Gold 360 in 2006 and 2nd album Suite 17 in 2008. As with Suite 17, the new album LM6iX includes experienced jazzmen: Coen Kaldeway (sax / clarinet), Bob Roos (drums) and Lucas Dols (bass), but also the addition of Teus Nobel (trumpet / flugel horn).

All 4 are well known in the Dutch jazz scene - Coen Kaldeway with his quartet and also work with Wazabe & Melou. Bob Roos for his sessions in Utrecht's SJU Jazzclub and for work with Marzio Scholten. Lucas Dols for Room Eleven and Simone White and new member Teus Nobel for Rotterdam Ska Jazz Foundation and Wicked Jazz Sounds.

Sixsmith's influences range from John Coltrane, Ramsey Lewis Trio, Charles Mingus and Miles Davis to Ennio Morricone, WAR, Funkadelic and CAN. The idea behind 'Black Gold 360' is simply to mix together Sixsmith's 2 big loves: jazz & electronica and see what comes out the other end.

The album was recorded and produced at Utrecht's Black Box Studios and is available from www.belugarecordings.com like all releases: as a free pod-friendly MP3 download.

The album LM6iX is out on Beluga Recordings on March 7, 2010.

Quote
“It's quite simple: we made a car called De Staat, and EuroSonic Noorderslag was our ticket to the freeway.[...] After our showcases at EuroSonic Noorderslag 2009 we started playing clubs, and before we could hear one bird whistle, we were set for the summer. Festivals like Pinkpop, Lowlands, Dour, The Great Escape and Sziget are now gigs we can proudly brag about.” De Staat
